through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."

Pond Field Trip

Yesterday, Mama took us on a field trip to a friend's pond. It was very boring because we had to stay an hour drawing, looking, and listening. I'm glad it's over, and that I don't have bug bites from it. Amen! Here are the pictures I took, there are a lot of them.

This is a bee.

Same bee.

This is a dragonfly.

The telephone pole is supposed to be the main focus of this pic.

This is a butterfly.

These are strange flowers we found.

This is Isaac working.

These are our experiment bottles.

This is what we used to get pond water.

I don't know what this is.

Our Broken, Old-Fashioned Phone

This is our broken, old-fashioned phone. We've had it for a while and today I was rummaging through some stuff. The dial still works but the ringer is dead. You literally have to hit it hard to make it ring.

Super heroes.

These are our toy action figures; Lizard, and Thor. We have lots of fun playing with them when we're bored, or even when we're not bored. We play with them whenever we feel like it (as long as we don't have something else to do.

This is a Spider-Man comic review page I got at my brother Erik's graduation party. It's pretty cool.

Hotwheels

These are me and Isaac's toy cars. We enjoy playing with them. I don't as much as he does. Isaac gets out gigantic races sometimes, so big in fact that I have to complain because they cover almost all of the room. Here are a few of them.

BlueBelle

This is my Dad's Pontiac. It's really cool. Erik decided he wanted to fix it up so Dad and he pushed it out of the garage. They have made progress but it'll take a while to finish.

Mapwork

This is my map I did on the Seven Years War. The clipboard that has all those marks is the clipboard Isaac uses. He calls it "the besmirched clipboard."

Seth is Rocking the Blog!

Seth is taking a Digital Photography course this year.  One of his on-going projects is to chronicle our school year/life this year.  He is off to a great start!  I hope everyone will enjoy reading more installments as his Freshman year in highschool progresses.  Thanks for logging in and taking time to show interest in what we are doing here in Lindsey Land!

SUCCESS!!! A Science Experiment that Worked!!!

Oxygen and Fire:

We were SOOOO excited!  So often experiments turn out less than stellar or don't even work.  We had to try this one 2ce, but it worked the 2nd time!  Hooray!!!

Tea

Studying the Chronicles of Narnia this time around has an added benefit.  Uncle Ryan and Aunt Terra Lindsey live in England with Cora and Titus.  They are our on-site source for learning all sorts of things that our unit study asks questions about.

They told us about the Tower of London.  THEN, they went out of their way for us and sent us postcards depicting the history of the Tower of London!  We were thrilled and touched.

We skyped with them on Labor Day and asked them about the meal called Tea.

We found out there is a tea like what we Americans picture, but that is High Tea and is served in the afternoon to people of position and wealth.

One Month Left in Fall Semester

Our Narnia unit study has really been fun.  We LOVE reading the books.  Of course, there is always groaning when we have to stop reading after only 1 chapter each day!  We've studied a lot of interesting vocabulary words and done crossword puzzles with them.

We done book reports on each of the 3 books we've completed so far, in a different format each time.  The first 2 books, we did creative reports and all pitched in to do part of them.

This last one we just did a traditional format.  This is the 1st time Isaac and Seth have had to complete a whole book report on their own.  They did well.  Next time, I will require more detail.  But it was a great 1st go.

We have gotten some of our Bible lessons from the study.  We have had a lot of good critical thinking questions to ponder and discuss.  We have had some extra science, history, and grammar lessons from it.  With this unit study, our spelling/vocab stuff, and grammar, English as a whole can take around 2 hours/day.

The boys are also really enjoying their independent study that they masterminded, an animal encyclopedia of their own making.  They started with reptiles.  They did all manner of alligator/crocodile/caiman/gharial types.  Now they are on to turtles.  On Fridays, they share what they learned with 'the Principal' and 'the Teacher'.

They are both doing awesome in Algebra II, Physical Science, and the Mystery of History III.  I personally really enjoyed this past couple of weeks of lessons in history.  Bloody Mary, Good Queen Bess, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Jeanne d'Albret.  Good stuff.

I can hardly believe we only have 4 1/2 more years of homeschooling to go.

Surprise Visitors

Grandma Kay and Aunt Beth came to visit yesterday. We had no idea that Aunt Beth was coming because she lives in Montana. So my parents had fun talking to them.

This summer we have been babysitting our cousin Jonathan. Here he is with his iPad.
We have enjoyed playing with him very much.

Computer Bible

Isaac and I are doing a New Testament survey on the computer this year and here is Isaac doing a mini game in the math drill section.

Home Demo

Mama is doing crazy reno work in our house. She just finished painting the living room and she decided she wants to demo our expensive entertainment center that has been with us for YEARS!!!
She doesn't care that I don't like this idea so Dad is doing her "evil bidding." Oh well things come and go and the entertainment center is definitely just a thing. The Lord gives and He takes away, and so does my mama.

Craziness at the start of school and a new TV.
Dad's tools of the trade.

New School Year 2015-2016

Hi, this is Seth. We are starting our new school year. I think it'll be lots of fun this year since this is our Freshman year of high school. And even though Isaac doesn't want to be this old, I have lots of hope. This year we are doing several different things in English, geometry in math, biology in science, a New Testament survey in computer Bible, and spelling\vocab in every subject. I think we'll have challenges, but I also think we'll make it.

This is me (Seth)!

This is me pretending to work while the pic is being taken.
