Note on last post.

I give credit to God for every good idea like that He pops into my head.  I could not do this homeschool journey without Him and I SO appreciate His funneling His creativity into my brain!

Lapbook Attempt #2

Isaac is in the midst of learning reading strategies to

help him tackle words he finds difficult to read.

So today as he was reading to me,

POP

into my head came the idea for a second lapbook.

This time one on the main reading

strategies we are working on.

 

We have 2 Carmen Sandiego computer games:

Math Detective

&

Word Detective

So...in an attempt to appeal to a boy's interest,

I'm always encouraging Isaac to be a 

Word Detective

And here is the lapbook:

 

We will add to it as we remember additional strategies we use.

Anthropomorphism Lapbook

I've been seeing a lot of lapbooks lately created

by other homeschoolers on their blogs.

I had never heard of them before that.

I think they look cool and

are a great way to pull

together what we have learned

on a topic.

So...

I decided to try

our hand at making one.

So here is our 1st lapbook ever

and it is on Anthropomorphism:

Anthropomorphism Scavenger Hunt

Isaac, Seth and I have been reading this wonderful, exciting storybook for our read aloud.  We are really enjoying it and having a hard time waiting to read more.

One of our assignments was to draw a realistic mouse and a mouse that looks like humans. 

Here are the drawings:

 

 

After this assignment, we started talking about Anthropomorphism:

attributing human characteristics to animals, things, or ideas.

Then I was out walking and found an example of Anthropomorphism and

I decided to take Isaac and Seth to look at what I found.

A tree with a face!  A Narnia tree!

Then we decided we needed to go on a 'Scavenger Hunt' for Anthropomorphism

around the block.  And this is what else we found:

Now they think we need to scour the whole neighborhood instead of just the block!!!

What a fun learning experience!
